Why I Left This Project
An honest explanation of why WorldPlay active development has ended, and a sincere thank you to everyone who supported this journey.
Primary Reasons for Discontinuation
1. Unstable Backend & Infrastructure
WorldPlay relied heavily on external backend services and media parsing endpoints. Over time, maintaining a consistent, reliable, and high-uptime backend infrastructure proved increasingly difficult. Rapid breaking changes in third-party endpoints and server instability made it impossible to provide the seamless playback experience users deserved.
2. Copyright & Legal Issues
Navigating stream extraction, content distribution rights, and media copyright regulations created ongoing legal and compliance challenges. As an open-source client application, sustaining parsers for third-party media streams presented complexities that could no longer be maintained responsibly.
Thank You for Your Support
To every user who downloaded WorldPlay, every developer who opened a pull request, everyone who reported bugs, and all community members who generously supported us — thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your encouragement, feedback, and enthusiasm made building WorldPlay a truly rewarding experience.
Source Code & Future Status
The source code remains available on GitLab under the Apache-2.0 license for educational and reference purposes. While active development has ceased, we are forever grateful for your support.
